Grace Carver could have traced her roots back to the ship, the "Mayflower" via Edward Doty who m'd Faith Clark, to their dau, Desire, who m'd William Sherman, to their son, Ebenezer, who m'd Margaret Decrow, to their dau, Abigail, who m'd Cabel5 Carver. Cabel5 Carver, would have been Grace8 Carver's great-great grandfather.
From the book "An Old River Town" referring to Winterport Me. we find both Henry6 and William7 are listed as sea captains. William7 is also referred to as "Uncle Billy" and as owning a farm on outer Whig Street. On an l854 map at the town office, it shows a set of buildings on the Main Street referred to as the Mansfield Block, believed to be still there today.
In his will of 29 Apr 1872 (Waldo Cty. Probate) William7 mentions his three living children , as well as his wife Grace and makes his son William8 H. the executor. The inventory upon William7's death amounted to about $7,124.96 including house and land. See following page.
