Family of Thomas1 and Bethiah (Poole) Mansfield

The following is quoted from Mansfield Genealogy by Daland and Mansfield:

THOMAS MANSFIELD (Daniel4, Daniel3, Andrew2, Robert1) was born in Lynn, Mass. 24 May 1717. According to Lynn, Mass. Vital Records, "Thomas fell off his horse between Marblehead and Salem and died immediately, 11 Sept. 1758, a. 41 y".

He resided at Central Street, Saugus, Mass. And owned a fulling mill, grist mill, cider mill, and clothier shop.

He married (1) 26 Oct. 1735 BETHIAH POOLE, his cousin, daughter of Bethiah (Mansfield) Poole, of Reading. She was born 24 Aug. 1718.

Bethiah died 14 Oct. 1750 and Thomas married (2) 15 Aug. 1751 ANN ROBY of Boston. After the death of Thomas, his widow married in Lynn 22 Nov. 1759 Dea. Abijah Cheever, b. in Lynn 11 Dec. 1718, son of Thomas Cheever. Widow Ann was guardian for minor children Samuel and Ann. Ann in her account 13 Nov. 1758 was in debted to Elizabeth and Thomas. Dr. Nathaniel Henchman was guardian for Benjamin (age 15).

The children of Thomas and Bethiah (Poole) Mansfield:

  1. Thomas6, b. about 1736 (DAR); m. MARY HAWKES 22 July 1756; d. 1790.
  2. Benjamin, b. 1743; d. 24 March 1816; m. 1765 ELIZABETH STOCKER.
  3. Ann
  4. Samuel, b. 1750; m. Rachel Roby in Lynn 10 Dec. 1775; d. March 1809.
