Anderson - John Anderson was in Watertown, MA in 1706 when he married a Rebecca Waite, eighth child of John Waite and Mary Woodward of Watertown, MA., grandchild of Richard and Mary Waite. Where did John come from? According to the NEGHR, Vol 43., April 1889, p. 12 John Anderson was a "Scotch-Irish" immigrant. Others have written to me that 1706 is too early to be "Scotch-Irish" and more likely he was expelled from England along with many other Scots who rebelled against the crown. There was also a John Anderson family of English ancestry in Boston/Charlestown, MA during the 1650 - 1690 period. Descended from this English family was a John Anderson born 14 Jul 1675 (per Charlestown VR p 93), or just about the right timeframe. Perhaps our John Anderson was not Scotch-Irish at all!
