John Knight, son of William and Elizabeth (Carter) Knight, was baptized at Ramsey, Hampshire, 30 Jan. 1595-96, died at Newbury MA in May 1670, 83y; married first at Ramsey Abbey, Hampshire, 29 Mar.1624/5 Elizabeth Vincent, who died at Newbury MA 20 Mar. 1644/5; married second his son's mother-in-law Ann (Langlye) Ingersoll, who died at Newbury 30 July 1677.
John was a tailor at Ramsey. In 1635 he brought his family to Massachusetts, sailing from Southampton in the James with his younger brother Richard, in the party of Rev. Joseph Avery. They were pioneer settlers at Newbury; he was made freeman there 25 May 1636. His will made 5 May 1670 was proved 23 June.

vi. Sarah, res. Newbury in 1717; m. there 6 Mar. 1659-60 John Bartlett, b. c1639, d. Newbury 13 Jan. 1707, c67y, son of John and Joan Bartlett: one Bartlett ch. d.y.
