Individual Narrative of John Meehan

 

 

John Meehan was an Irishman and a farmer (Marcel Meehan, translator, "Genealogy of the Meehan Family".Hereinafter cited as "Genealogy of the Meehan Family.").  He was born circa 1765 at Ireland (was 73 yrs old at death and 1831 Census, Death Records Parish Register fo the Famille du Sante’, Portneuf, Quebec. He married Bridget White circa 1790 (assumes John married about 20 yrs old). He emigrated on 19 Jun 1821 from Belfast (They departed June 19th_from Belfast on the Brig Union, with Master Nicholson and 138 passengers).  He immigrated on 21 Aug 1821 to Quebec (They were met in Quebec by representatives of Coltman and Hale).  He left a will on 9 Oct 1838 at Cap Sante, Portneuf, Quebec (Transcribed by Jeanne-Mance Delisle Translated by Amy Meehan):  John Meehan's Last Will and Testament, 9/10/1863), ,hereinafter cited as John Meehan's Will. He was Roman Catholic Christian (Ibid.).  He died on 27 Oct 1838 at Cap-Sante, Co. Portneuf (At 73 yrs old)  Death Records.  He was buried on 29 Oct 1838 at Ste Famille, Cap Sante, Portneuf (Ibid.).
