Richard Ingersoll, son of George Ingersoll, was baptized at Edworth, near Sutton, Bedfordshire, 10 Mar. 1587, died at Salem MA in 1644 (will made 24 July 1644, proved 2 Jan. 1644/5); married at Sandy, Bedfords, 10 Oct. 1611, Agnes or Ann Langlye, who died at Newbury MA 30 July 1677.
In 1629 Richard brought his wife and five children to Salem. He was an innkeeper there, and was named in 1637 to maintain a ferry across the North River. The name is found spelled Inkersall and Ingason.
His widow married second John1 Knight.

iii. Lt. George, bp. Sutton 2 July 1618, d. Salem in 1694; m. c1642 Elizabeth ---- , d. before husband: 7 ch. Moved from Gloucester to Falmouth ME (Stroudwater) by 1657, militia lieutenant there, driven away by Indians from 1675 to 1680, finally retired to Salem in 1689 (GDMNH 368).
iv. John, bp. Sutton 11 Mar. 1620, d. in 1683 (will 20 Nov., 27 Dec.); m. c1643 Judith Felton, bp. Great Yarmouth, England) 28 Nov. 1621, dau. of widow Eleanor Felton, sister of Nathaniel and Benjamin Feltton of Salem: 12 ch.
v. Joanna, bp. Sutton 3 Mar. 1624, d. c1693; m. c1643 Richard Pettingill, b. prob. in Norfolk c1620, d. c1695: 5 Pettingill ch. Res. Salem and Newbury.
vi. Sarah, bp. Sutton 1 July 1627; m. 1st c1644 William Haines of Salem: one Haines ch.; m. 2nd c1652 Joseph Houlton of Salem, b. in England c1622, d. 30 May 1705: 7 Houlton ch. He came as servant to Richard Ingersoll.
vii. Bathsheba, b. Salem c1630; m. in 1647 John2 Knight.
viii. Deacon Nathaniel, b. Salem c1633, d. there 27 Jan. 1719; m. 25 Mar. ???? Hannah Collins, who survived him: one ch. d.y.
