FRANCIS1 PLUMMER was born 1594-1596 in England or Wales, and died January 17, 1672/73 in Newbury, Essex Co., MA. He married (1) RUTH Bef 1619 in England or Wales. He married (2) ANN PALMER March 31, 16492. He married (3) BEATRICE November 29, 1665.

Plummer is sometimes written as "Plumer" with a line or bar over the "m". Double letters were often represented by a single consonant with a line or bar over them. Francis was a linen weaver. Came to New England as an indentured servant or apprentice around 1633. He was said to have come from either Wales or from Woolwich, near London. Francis was declared freeman at Newbury, 14 May 1634. On 2 September 1635, Francis was licensed to keep an "ordinary", or tavern, in Newbury. On 21 April 1638, he was fined two shillings and sixpence for missing a town meeting. He was listed amongst the "freeholders" of the town on 7 December 1642.
